Bendigo TAFE Six Season Calendar Garden - Reference Design

Following our sensitive work with other Dja Dja Wurrung projects, 3Acres LA were engaged by Djandak to prepare a concept design for the Djaara six seasons calendar garden as part of the Bendigo TAFE campus redevelopment. Djaara members were keen to document a personal story relating to the six Dja Dja Wurrung seasons, as well as represent the six layers of country in a city campus environment.

Working with Djaara members, 3Acres LA documented and mapped the visions and ideas of the group. This included Ron (Thunda) Kerr’s story of the fishing season, a seasonal map of plants, animals and flowering times, and the layers of country in six concentric circles. From this process, an information pack and reference design were prepared and presented to the Bendigo TAFE project team for delivery.

Described as the jewel of the award-winning Bendigo TAFE redevelopment, the garden was delivered in collaboration with Dja Dja Wurrung by Architectus, Six Degrees Architects and SBLA Studio.
